We are delighted to invite you to the first Agroscope PhD/Post-Doc Symposium in Reckenholz on September 13th. The topic of the symposium will be “The future of agriculture in uncertain times”.

The Symposium provides an opportunity for PhD students and Post-Docs working at Agroscope to present their own research, display the diversity of topics, and exchange ideas. It should also help to improve the presentation skills and facilitate career development.

Everyone working at Agroscope, as well as external supervisors are invited to the symposium. However, in case of too many registrations, we will have the following priority list: PhD students and Post-Docs (Agroscope and external), supervisors and scientific supporting committee, research collaborators, Agroscope management board and research group leaders, and finally everyone else working at Agroscope.

Regarding the presentations (PhD students and Post-Docs only), there are three different possibilities: Traditional talks of 12 minutes, posters, and short talks of only 3 minutes. These short talks should give people a possibility to present something in brief words in front of a bigger audience and get them hooked to go and discuss the research! While submitting your abstract you will be able to choose the priority of your contributions. If you opt for a long/short talk you will additionally have the opportunity to bring a poster.The abstracts should be sent to Eleonora Seoni (eleonora.seoni@agroscope.admin.ch).

Besides the research presentations, we also want to reserve some time in workshops to discuss common issues we face as PhD Students and PostDocs at Agroscope. The topics can include career development, issues due to joint supervision by university professors and Agroscope staff, project management, or anything else you want to have discussed. We are glad to hear your workshop ideas! To contribute, please see attached template and also send it to Eleonora Seoni (eleonora.seoni@agroscope.admin.ch) latest by 31.07.2018. 

For PhD students and Post-Docs with a long travel to come to Zurich, we might offer simple overnight stay possibilities. Please indicate in the registration form, if you would like to have or offer an overnight stay.
